Welcome to the website of Giffards Primary School.

As you are already aware all schools in the country will remain closed for most pupils until the government advises otherwise. This will be reviewed again by the Government regularly and at such point that all pupils are expected back in school we will, of course, let you all know.

During the next few weeks, schools will only be open for children of critical workers, these are where a parent’s work is critical to the coronavirus (COVID-19) response include those who work in health and social care and in other key sectors outlined by following the link above, and those pupils defined as vulnerable .

All letters/updates will be added to our website, both our COVID19 page as well as this page when relevant. Please do keep checking.

Christmas Activities Please note that due to so many families self-isolating we will be having a fun filled day on our return that will include a turkey dinner and parties for the children to celebrate the new year – the Christmas dinner offered to all on Monday 14th December was completely free of charge for all. Parent Survey

Thank you very much to parents and carers for completing the questionnaire and for your comments and responses about our school. We had 163 responses. Please click here to see the collated responses.

I would like to say thank you for your overwhelmingly supportive and positive responses. I am proud to report that 98.16% of you stated that you would recommend Giffards Primary School to another parent.

Parents’ suggestions are gratefully received and will be considered as we move forwards throughout the year. The results of the survey as well as all of your comments will be discussed and shared at the next governor’s meeting and with staff. Some comments were in relation to the protective measures we have put in place to keep our whole community safe whilst we are dealing with Covid-19. We are constantly reviewing the measures we take and I appreciate the staggered starts and finishes and school meals in classrooms are not ideal, but whilst we need to try and keep bubbles separate to limit any potential spread of the infection these measures will need to remain.

Please click here if you have any concerns if your child is unwell and what to some guidance might be useful to you around what to do if your child is ill and you are unsure whether they need to remain at home or take a COVID test.

Parents and teachers at Giffards Primary School want children to be happy and learn lots of new skills. We believe that these two things can be achieved in an environment where children and adults respect each other, regardless of age, gender or position. We want children to be kind, careful and considerate, friendly and polite, helpful, sensible, honest, hard working and respectful of other people’s opinions, beliefs and property. Children at Giffards are happy and remain at the heart of everything we do.

An important element in a child’s education is the link between home and school. Children learn best when home and school work together so that we can achieve the very best for our children. Please ensure that children attend school every day, are punctual and wearing school uniform. Click to see our Prospectus  and an explanation of the curriculum that we follow.

All of our key policies are available on the policies page of our website.  Contact us if you have any queries or questions or wish to report your child’s absence.

As part of our commitment to improving education for our pupils and pupils locally we work closely with other schools, even though a standalone Academy, and are part of the Dilkes Primary Academy Teaching Alliance.
